Roger Talbott Wellness Fund

My name is Brett Talbott, and my father was recently diagnosed with stage 4 small cell cancer. He was away on a routine work assignment when he began to experience what he thought was just a cold. Over the next couple of weeks the symptoms continued to get worse, and upon his return home, he went to the hospital to get checked out. After initially thinking it was pneumonia, the doctors asked him to come back in and get a CT scan. The scan later revealed a large mass behind his heart and the doctor informed us that it was incurable. From there, the following tests also revealed that the cancer had spread to his bones and liver. The doctors began chemo therapy the next day in an attempt to reduce the cancerous cells and we've been fighting non-stop since that day.

For someone who has done so much for me, it breaks my heart to see him go through this and endure so much pain. I sometimes ask myself which is worse, the cancer or the chemo? But in the end, I know the chemo is our best shot at ensuring he has more time to spend with family and the people he loves. He always taught me to to never quit, so I know that's not an option for him. 

With that being said, the chemo therapy is expensive and my father's insurance will only cover so much. Due to the diagnosis, he is no longer able to work and chances are he will never be able to go back. My goal is to raise $15,000 so I can help him cover the initial costs of the treatment and give him some peace of mind so he can focus on what matters most—feeling better. Luckily, I've been blessed with people willing to help; from airfare for me to see my dad to a donation of $5,000 to kick start the campaign. I cannot thank them enough for their generosity, and it has reminded me that there are still so many wonderful people in the world. If you can afford to help just the slightest bit, it would mean the world, but at the very least I ask that you keep him in your prayers.
