On Thursday morning 7/24 my daughter’s fiancé Matthew got into a terrible car accident where he was pinned in his car and he had to be extricated out of the vehicle; He was then air lifted to the hospital. Assessing the damages that were done we thank God he is alive and he doesn’t have any brain or organ damage even though he hit his head and there was a lot of blood. They found he had a broken neck from C1-C5, a broken neck/back from C6-T2, a broken Jaw, Clavicle, and left hand. He has had 4 surgeries so far to repair all the fractures, he might have to have a 5th. He has been on a ventilator since his first surgery Thursday they switched him over to a nasal vent just because they had to wire his jaw shut. He'll have to have the tube in until the swelling in his throat goes down to protect his airway from closing. He will also have to have his jaw wired shut for at least 12 weeks while wearing a neck and full back brace. He is receiving food through a feeding tube in his nose and is heavily sedated with pain medicine in hopes to give him rest and comfort. He is so incredibly lucky and strong with everything that has happened he should have been a lot worse than he is. As far as being in the hospital we don’t know how long he will have to stay here and if he will need a rehab center afterwards and or home health. He will be out of work for a long time and Cheyenne will miss a lot also. Please keep Matthew, Cheyenne and our family in your prayers. If you can help them in anyway it will definitely be appreciated.
Matthew is a miracle and we are so thankful to God that he is still here with us and fighting everyday.
