Love for Lucy

Donation protected

I'm starting this donation page because I found out yesterday that my best friend in the world is dying of cancer. I will start off with a little bit of our history. I tragically lost my beautiful sister on December 3rd 2007 when she was only 18 years old due to a drunk driver. It was the hardest thing I have ever gone through and put our family to the ultimate test. Lucy was born shortly afterwards coincidentally on Valentines day 2008. I met Lucy in 2010 from a past relationship and when we broke up she recognized the connection Lucy and I have and let me keep her. She has been my best friend ever since. Anyone who has ever met Lucy knows that she is such a sweet and smart dog. There is nothing I wouldn't do for her which is the reason I feel the need to start this page. The lymph nodes in Lucy's neck swelled up very bad last week and she had to stay overnight at the emergency vet. She has been on steroids since that night. The swelling went down and she regained her appetite. We were hoping it was some sort of infection while waiting for the lab results to come in. I got the dreaded call yesterday that she does indeed have Lymphosarcoma which is one of the most common forms of cancer in dogs. So at this point I have 2 options. The first is to continue to give her the steroids she's on now and they will keep her symptoms at bay for probably 1-3 months until they no longer prove effective. The second is the reason I am starting this page. There is an option for dogs to undergo chemotherapy treatments. The vet has told me it could give her around a year more to live and since it is such miniscule amounts of chemo it shouldn't degrade her quality of life. These treatments range from 3-4 thousand dollars and would require me to take her down to Denver weekly or every other week. While I hate to have to ask for help I feel like I have to try and fight for Lucy. She has given me such unconditional love and devotion every day and I owe it to her to try and fight. If you can, any little bit you're able to spare would mean the world to Lucy and I. Trust me I completely understand times are tight these days so even just a share on your Facebook wall could do wonders for her. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Lucy was born on love day and I think we could all use some more love in these crazy times. Always remember that tomorrow is never promised and to be kind to one another. Thanks again and have a great day. ❤,
Sean and Lucy
