Two Birds | One Mountain

In July the nature guide and conservation students of Campfire Academy embarked on the #Camp2Kili2019 overland training tour. The tour included a trek to the summit of Kilimanjaro and we used this opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the Okavango Wilderness Project steered by the Wild Bird Trust. Nine local and international brands from the nature and wildlife economy pledged donations in exchange for a spot on our summit banners. We documented their brand journey across Africa and up to its highest point. They are currently sharing their stories on social media to increase the reach of our campaign and motivate others to make a contribution to the preservation of our global natural heritage.

Although we are very pleased with our fundraising progress, we still have some way to go before reaching our grand target. The funds raised will be turned over to the Trust and will make a substantial contribution towards continuous monitoring of the ecological health of the Okavango River Basin. The data collected is used to inform critical management plans that aim to conserve biodiversity, maintain ecological services and ensure the sustained livelihood of countless people and species who rely on the Okavango. ADDITIONAL: The Wild Bird Trust was founded in 2009 by Dr Rutledge 'Steve' Boyes and is a registered Public Benefit Organisation.
