Be The Village

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Brooke and my husband is Brad (Big O), and these are "Our boys!”

Cooper is my son(7th grade), Kyler (7th grade) and Madden (4th grade) are our neighbors. Kyler is my son's best friend.  The boys have been in our lives for the last eight years.  Cooper and Kyler were 4 and Madden was only two. This is when our village began.

Over the last 8 years, these kiddos have grown to be our family.  They are at our house almost everyday and spend the night most weekends.  If we do "family" things, they are there...  Church, movies, and going to visit Cooper's grandparents (Mrs. Nano and Mr. Pappy as Madden calls them).

A little over a year ago, the boys’ father unexpectedly passed away in their home.  Kyler woke up on a Saturday morning to find his dad, deceased, at the dining room table.  Obviously, this was a life changing moment in this family.  Unfortunately, this moment left this family with no life insurance and no way to pay the bills.  Their mom had to get back in the work force. It separated their time together and things shifted for the worst.

The boys have seen counselors who are quick put them on medication for aggression and ADHD.  The school they attend is a very large public school and honestly not equipped to give them the attention they need and deserve at this time of crisis and change in their life.   The public high school in the area made national news a while back for the brawls posted on the internet.  Kyler comes home all the time complaining of fights at school.  I can see the path their life could take if they have to stay in a situation like that.  It makes me cry to think of that life for them. They are great young boys who are trying to figure out what being a good man looks like, and now their father is gone.

My husband and I treat them like our own.  They do chores around the house when they are here, they get corrected when they don't behave, but, it’s not enough.  Their mom is a good lady and just needs help.  When they are home with her, grief is still rough and tensions are high. They wish their dad was there.  Understandable, but, it’s very difficult for her.  We are her support system when and if she needs it.  We are a Village.

To help further, we have gotten the boys accepted to Cooper's school. That we can help with transportation, homework, family time, attention, and the discipline they need so she can concentrate on work and providing for the boys and her 16-year-old daughter.  It is a small Christian school in Clinton, Mississippi.

The teachers are wonderful and the classes are small!  There is real discipline and people who care about each child!  They were given some financial aide, but we can't pay it all. This GoFundMe will cover tuition until the boys graduate.   We are asking for help.  We are asking for you to join our Village.  The boys are excited about their new school.  We met teachers last night and the joy on their faces about school, I don't think I have ever seen!!  They NEED THIS.  They need a small, loving and demanding environment that will lead them to be the men they deserve to be.  They DO NOT NEED the chaos of being lost in the shuffle and medicated to add to their all ready troubling time.  Please help us by donating to their education fund.  To be honest... This is so much more than an education fund.... This is a LIFE CHANGING fund. God bless you all, and thank you so much for the life changing donations.  The boys are extremely grateful and have promised not to let you down!
