Jamil & Jalil's South Africa Trip

Donation protected
Hello Everyone! My name is Jamil Pines-Elliott and I am currently a Junior Business Administration Major at Elizabethtown College. Next semester, my twin brother Jalil and I are taking a course called "Peace and Conflict in South Africa". The course aims to examine the specific problems that South Africa has and continues to deal with due to apartheid. At the end of the semester, we have the opportunity to travel to South Africa for two weeks. During these two weeks, we will learn about, and experience, the different cultures that make up South Africa by interacting with people from a number of the different countries and cultures. We will also take tours and visit historical sites and points of interest. Fighting for social justice has always been something both of us have taken pride in. Nelson Mandela was a key figure in the overthrowing apartheid in South Africa, and he is someone we have studied and always admired. We still have alot of learning and understanding to do in terms of racial differences, but this trip will definitely give us a once-in-a-lifetime experience to help us gain more knowledge. Unfortunately, our educational scholarships are not able to cover the costs of traveling to and staying in South Africa in May. We believe this will be a worthwhile experience, and we are grateful and appreciative of any and every penny that goes towards helping us. Thank you all so much!
