Winter

I keep saying I’m one more rescue dog away from starting my own dog rescue. But I’m (mostly) kidding. Maybe someday… the people who know me know I’ve been running a horse rescue for 6 years now called Project ComeBack…which is an 80 hour week job minimum. So adding a dog rescue may not be in the cards at this moment.
For now I’m helping a very kind hearted friend of mine, Amanda Barnum, and her endlessly supportive fiancé, Stephen Stiteler, pull dogs out of a Dallas shelter the day they’re supposed to be euthanized.
They do this in their free time. They, like me, work full time caring for and rescuing horses rescue while also transporting them all over the country to their forever homes through their company STR Transport.
The puppy below in particular stole my heart, her name is Winter, the shelter said she wasn’t eating and had given up. She’s loaded with parasites and anemic and had stopped trying to live anymore. She was scheduled to be euthanized the day I begged Amanda to just add one more to her already overbooked schedule.
I told Amanda if she could pick her up I would fundraise for her medical expenses and kennel. A kennel costs $398, medical bills the vet estimated around $500.
I know I ask a lot from my friends and family in terms of donations. And I’m so grateful for everyone who constantly supports Project ComeBack and our very special rescue horses.
If you cannot donate PLEASE don’t feel bad, just take a minute to share this fundraiser and tell her story if you can. You never know who may see this and want to help.
Thank you always, for everything. My heart is really tired. No amount of rescuing ever feels like enough. But just for tonight I’m going to focus on one rescue at a time.
Sending you love Winter, congratulations on your freedom.
