Lombok Earthquake Appeal

On 5th August 2018, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck North Lombok in Indonesia. This destructive natural disaster has devastated the region, killing hundreds of people and making hundreds of thousands of people homeless.
Multiple earthquakes have since occurred and at the time of writing this, there is still no sign that it is over yet.
Food, water, shelter and medicine are the priority right now. The extent of the structural damage to buildings and roads is absolutely huge.
When something like this happens it’s impossible to feel useful or like you can help in any meaningful way. But you can help, we all can. Even just giving a couple of Pounds/Euros/Dollars can make things a bit better for the people here in Lombok.
We have started buying supplies from donations given by people and transported them to the North of Lombok. Now though we need help - we have set up this GoFundMe page in the hope of spreading the word faster and giving people an easy way of getting money where it’s needed.
Who am I? My Name is Hannah and I’m originally from England. Much like a lot of people, I have fallen in love with Indonesia and I’m currently living on Gili Trawangan, an island in Lombok. This was an area very close to the epicentre on the night of the big earthquake. The experience has been completely surreal and devastating in more ways than one.
What can your donations buy?
- Food: £5 will buy approximately 15 local meals
- Water: £4.30 will buy 24 bottles of water
- Medicine
- Camping materials
- Financial support to those who have lost their homes
- Donations can also be used towards construction and rebuilding of homes.
I will directly withdraw any funds raised via this campaign and purchase supplies here in Lombok. These will then be taken in a van by myself and a small team to various villages and camps in some of the worst hit areas of North/North East and Central Lombok. We have found people to most need tents, large sacks of rice, blankets and water.
Our primary objective is to help and support the people in North Lombok (mainland). If possible, we will also use donations to help the people of Gili Trawangan. If you have any questions or requests on how you would like your donation to be used then please send a message.
