No words can explain how hard it is to go through what my family is currently experiencing. My mom is facing critical complications post hip replacement surgery. Although the surgery went well her recovery took an unexpected and unpredicted turn that no one was ready for. Two days after her discharge from the hospital from her surgery mom was experiencing difficulty breathing. My dad took her back to LGH and she was admitted to the cardiac floor for possible blood clots. All test ruled out any clots. Her recovery worsened and she was moved to ICU. While in the hospital recovering from her surgery my mom vomited from high doses of pain meds and ended up inhaling some of the fluids, causing aspiration pneumonia. This instance has caused severe damage to her lungs; swelling and inflamation. She already suffers from COPD, emphysema and radiation pneumonitis.  She is currently receiving oxygen from a ventilator and is heavily sedated to keep her from moving. Any unnecessary movements or comotion could affect the outcome, her lungs need rest. Her current diagnosis is ARDS. The staff at LGH has been nothing but a blessing in my moms journey of recovery. We are thankful for each and every doctor and nurse who is caring for her around the clock. We are still struggeling with the "one step forward, two steps back" in her recovery but we are all so hopeful that within time this will all be just moving forward.

Prayer has been so powerful and so rewarding throughout these past couple of days. Without God's grace we would not be where we are. My family is so thankful for all the love and support that everyone has shown. With any setback like this comes financial difficulty. I would like to help raise money for my mom and dad to try and lift a weight off the their shoulders. My dad is having to take over all bill payments and that is delivering challenges that we hope to overcome. There is not any specific "goal" that needs to be reached but I know they could use a great deal of help at this time so that the focus can be more on her rather than stressing over bills. 

We have a long road ahead of us. Please continue to lift my mom up in prayer. Ask for strength, for healing and for progress. Pray that everything happens at the right moment so she can pull through this. Pray hard and pray BIG!
