Ashanti Aku Hassan Memorial Fund

 Young, bright, loving spirit, Ashanti Aku Hassan, was tragically shot and killed just yards from the home of her childhood while walking home on June 30, 2012 in Riverside, California. There have been several shootings in the area in recent months. No suspects have been identified in her murder.

In her 29 years, Ashanti touch the lives of many people near and far with her vibrant and generous spirit. Her loss will be felt be countless family members, friends, and even people who were briefly acquainted with her.

Ashanti had suffered the loss of her mother in recent years, and had often expressed a desire to place a headstone at her mothers grave site. Her family plans to lay her to rest next to her mother with a dual headstone in their memory. Donations will go toward the purchase of headstone, funeral and burial costs.

As we mourn her death, we know her spirit lives on reminding us to treasure our time on earth with those we encounter. Her violent death is a call out agianst senseless neighborhood violence.
