Tutoring services for C!

Donation protected
When I first met C, he was doing credit recovery. He was 17 years old with just 7 credits. He was also in out-of-home care and navigating virtual learning.

Like many students, C does not do well with virtual learning. His IEP documents his need for one-on-one support. Still, he has been consistently attending school; in fact, he now has a pathway to pass all of his classes this semester, something that has not happened in recent years.

In addition to tutoring services, I have also helped get C on the waiting list for a competency-based program (new seats open in January). Assuming he earns credits this semester, he may be able to graduate in June.

All of this sounds wonderful, right? It’s a dramatic improvement from those 7 credits and another projected 3 years of school. Unfortunately, my scheduled tutoring hours with C will end prior to Thanksgiving.

C qualified for my tutoring services from a grant. While his case manager is pursuing this option, we are fearful that either: A) the request will be denied or B) the request will be approved after the new semester starts. (I missed the first six weeks of school with him due to a pending request.)

I can donate my time, but I would still need help covering some of my expenses, such as placing my son in daycare during our sessions. My goal is to continue working with C for 6 hours/week. Here’s how you can help:

$15 donation - one hour of tutoring
$45 donation - full morning session of tutoring
$90 donation - full week of tutoring

All donors will receive general updates about C’s progress and will also receive a follow-up communication reflecting the dates of services and topics discussed/assignments completed. (If you're looking to learn more/verify my work providing academic support services, you can visit my website: www.sustainableformations.com. My contact information is also listed there.)

The $400 will allow me to work with C through the end of the current semester. Any additional funds will be used in this order:

1) To secure tutoring hours for C through completion of his competency based program (he graduates whenever the work is done).

2) To provide tutoring services to foster and adoptive families, who may be receiving monthly stipends for care but who do not have access to additional funding for academic support with virtual learning.

If you prefer to give via another platform, feel free to do so.
