Hi there! My name is Jennifer. I am a chronic illness warrior. Why does that matter?
A few years ago, I was at my lowest point. I lost everything due to medical bills — and my inability to ask for help. Long story short, I tried everything to help myself despite my mysterious symptoms, including going back to school and trying to change careers. My attempts didn't work, and I entered a multi-year battle with homelessness. Unable to keep a job that covered my bills, I resorted to sex work to keep a roof over my head. Unable to make enough at that, I fell into full-out prostitution. At that point, I decided to unalive myself.
However, something stopped me at the last minute. I didn't know what I was going to do, but I wanted to try to come back. The world could destroy me if it wanted; I refused to let it make me destroy myself.
Only — I didn't know what to do. Everything I had tried had failed, which was why I was at my lowest, anyway.
Fortunately, although my brain damage prevented me from learning new things, I kept some of my old abilities. I had some success with freelance writing, and I continued practicing yoga even after I gave up teaching other styles of fitness classes, thanks to my health conditions.
I began by starting one blog, then my partner and I began a yoga program. Over the years, it has been healing for me and a way to give back to others by helping them manage their conditions.
I'm currently working on growing the following:
Our Yoga YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/onlyinsedonayoga
I love working on these endeavors — as I said, it's healing for me. But websites take money to upkeep, and audio-visual equipment costs a pretty penny. Furthermore, I have a dream. I would love to get these websites and program successful enough to generate revenue to fund a non-profit that helps people like me who struggled with homelessness (and worse) thanks to medical conditions get the resources they need to heal.
My fundraiser isn't dire. I won't suffer if you don't give. However, you could help in our mission. If you have the extra and want to support our work, we'd greatly appreciate your generous donation and promise to put it to good use producing quality yoga programming and informative articles to help you manage your health holistically. Thank you for your support!
