I would love your support to help me raise money for Turas, a Dundalk-based registered charity that provides a community addiction service to help people struggling with substance misuse.
Turas has remained open through the Covid-19 pandemic, providing remote support and adjusted programmes, including its alcohol detox programme, as well as taking new referrals of people in the North East seeking professional support to get their addiction under control.
Turas has also introduced new programmes, including food donations to clients and tele-support to asylum seekers in direct provision.
As manager of Turas, I am so proud of how our team is adapting to help those in need of support in our community at this time. But as a small organization, we need your help to continue to operate remotely and prepare for the next phase of once again opening our doors to offer the warm, engaging and calm welcome people are accustomed to receiving.
I will be walking 21.6 miles on May 23rd - 9 times around a 2.4 mile loop - and I would really appreciate your support with a donation to help Turas continue its work.
The money raised will help Turas:
1. Rent a bigger room for group programmes and install Perspex screens to ensure safety and social distancing can be maintained when we resume face-to-face contact.
2. Cover the cost of technology (laptops/mobile phones) so that staff can continue to hold zoom video calls and provide other remote supports to clients who are totally disconnected from supports they normally receive.
3. Fund the delivery of food donations to clients.
4. Establish long-term funding to ensure the support offered by Turas is not compromised because of Covid-19.
