Tune Up Holistic Care | COVID -19 Relief

Please share our story and help us get the word out! No amount is too small. A little goes a long way:) #SmallBusinessRelief

If a perfect storm and a series of unfortunate events had a baby, well.....

Our Timeline:
August 2016: We opened our business in 600 square foot single room studio space and worked hard towards our dream of building an all-encompassing holistic care practice.

December 2020:  Three and a half years later we were ready to take the next steps: move to a large space, incorporate as an LLC, and make contractors employees. The virus was spreading rapidly in China and we signed a 5-year lease for our new office space.

December 23 - January 1: While everyone else celebrated the Holidays, we were ripping out carpet, painting and moving from our previous office to the new space. The new space is in a more accessible location and has more rooms. We excitedly dreamt of the day we established our team of therapeutic massage therapists in conjunction with acupuncturists, nutritionists, herbalists, fitness instructors, behavioral health therapists and so forth. It was happening. Being able to offer holistic care to our community was happening!  In addition, there aren't many job opportunities for CAMTC Certified Therapists in our city.  Unfortunately, if you're a Bodyworker and live in Vallejo, you most likely have to commute to Napa or SF for work. So we have also been extremely happy about working locally and hiring locally.

January 1st: We moved our business without being closed for 1 day. It was a feat and we did it!  By January 30th the epidemic would be declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).

February 2020: We were just finally able to get our footing with regards to all of the change while 234 people were evacuated from China and sent to Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, approximately 25 miles away from our home and office. Yes, it's true, we live in Solano County, where the first case of a U.S. person to person transmission was identified. Even as I'm writing this, it's hard to believe this has all been happening.

March 17th: We stopped taking appointments and were forced to put all employees on furlough. For the sake of everyone and staying in compliance with Shelter in place, we have been closed since. Simply put, this is hard. To date, we have filled out every disaster relief aide application we can get our hands-on.  To all who are experiencing great losses during this time, whether it be health, financial, or otherwise know that you are not alone. Our hearts go out to you. We will get through this. We hesitated on starting this GoFundMe page and felt embarrassed or too prideful to ask for help. But there was no getting around the fact that this is bigger than us. It's about:
-Our staff and their families
-Supporting job growth in our community now and in the future.
-Our clients, who depend on the therapeutic care we offer.
-Providing a safe place to heal for everyone, regardless of gender, race, weight, religion, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity. We truly are here to provide care without judgment, as we know that health and wellness are for everyone, and every person deserves to be treated with dignity.
-Getting the conversation started more and more about preventative and holistic care in our neck of the woods.
-Being a woman-owned business and playing our small role in inspiring other women to take leadership roles.
-It's about survival. If we can do it, we can continue to support others in surviving their day-to-day.

When we closed our doors for appointments on March 17th, we knew we had just been given the ultimate test as small business owners. We asked ourselves, if this door is closing, what will open? How can we turn this around? We hope this is one way.

Sending love to ALL of those who are truly being negatively impacted by this outbreak. Our hearts go out to all of those who have fallen ill or who are suffering great losses. A special thanks to our first responders, who can't stay home like the rest of us.  Thank you for your support!
