Tumor Surgery, Travel, and Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Amanda. I'm 45 and married to Jim. Our 25th wedding anniversary is Tuesday, Sept. 24. We have  a 15 year old daughter and a 16 year old son. We live in Colorado, and a weeks ago I found a lump on my arm. . .

I went to New York City last week to find out what can be done about the tumor in my arm. It is hopefully and most likely benign. If it is a cancer, it's very localized to my arm and unlikely to spread with a successful surgery. We won't know what it is, until it becomes a "was" in the hands of the pathologists.  The tumor is encasing the nerve sheath in my arm that allows me to use my right hand from writing, to typing, to eating, to opening a door.

Aside from the travel to and from New York to get the best outcome. There will be at least $2,000 out of pocket medical bills, tons of physical therapy, and I will have to take two weeks unpaid from work before my disability insurance kicks in.

Jim and I had to cancel our 25th wedding anniversary party because we didn't know what was going to happen, and now we don't think we could afford it anyway.

This fundraiser is to  provide gap income and pay for travel and medical expenses.

After the surgery I will need rides to work, physical therapy and follow up appointments, and rides for my kids sometimes, since I won't be able to drive for a while. I'm blessed to have an amazing husband who does all the shopping and cooking, so my needs are mostly around mobility since he's in school full time to become the world's best elementary school teacher.
