A Message from Lisa Tucker and Sonja Morgan, working together to raise a sharp, compassionate, and successful young woman.

Our ambitous 15 year old has a unique opporutnity to advance her education by attending the Annie Wright School for Girls  (AWS).

Rashida moved to the US from Jamaica with her father in 2009 and to Tacoma in 2013 to live with Sonja. Since moving to Tacoma, Rashida has excelled in school and is working diligently on her dream to go to go to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and pursue a career in engineering.

Despite many financial challenges and the difficulties of transitioning to a new country, education has always been the top priority in Rashida's upbringing.

Rashida yearns for a rigorous and engaging curriculum and teachers that will inspire her and guide her in accomplishing her goals. The small class sizes, service opportunities, and close knit community at AWS will provide this and more.

Sonja graduated as a "Red Tie" from Annie Wright in 1998 thanks to being generously sponsored by her great aunt, Burdette McClelland, a 1936 graduate of the "Blue Tie" Class. Other members of her family that have attended Annie Wright include Genevieve (McClelland) Lee, Susan (Morgan) Handley, Elizabeth (Morgan) Heath, and even her father, Charles Morgan, as a pre-schooler in the pottery shed!

Not only will Rashida also be a "Blue Tie" (Class of 2020) but she will be in the last ever girls only class as AWS embarks on offering a new program for high school boys.

We are very proud that because of Rashida's outstanding academics. (3.9 GPA, Best Mathmetician Award, Best College Interview Award, Einstein Science Award, Honor Roll 1st place  in 2 MESA robotic competitions, Deans List, and  a National Scholar Society of High School Students inductee) AWS made a very significant financial aid award, and $8000 will make Rashida’s dream a reality by covering the remaining expenses including books and uniforms.

GoFundMe donations will go toward the remaining $8,000 due for the 2017-2018 academic year.

We invite you to join us in the financial support of this talented young woman who is is sure to make many positive contributions to our world.

With great appreciation,
Lisa & Sonja
