Tuff Tyde

Tyde was diagnosed with Leukaemia on the 21st of March 2017. On this day he was immediately sent to Wollongong hospital and soon after transferred straight to Sydney children’s hospital in Randwick. Tyde and his mum Ash have been in and out of Sydney children's hospital for the last 12 months and spending lengthy stays up there. During this time Tydes Dad, Ross and two sisters, Tylah 6 and Oceana 2 are all the way back in Wollongong at home, this distance and separation  has taken a toll on the entire family.

Shortly before Tyde was diagnosed his dad was involved in a horrific work place accident breaking his back, leaving him in a condition in which he is unable to work and experiences pain daily. A heartbreaking situation for the whole family to experience along with great stress and a very difficult financial situation in which they were unaware of the news to come about Tydes diagnosis.

On day 8 of Tydes diagnosis the family found out that Tyde was a high risk patient. This meant he had to get a central line  put in as he was not responding to treatment well.
Since then Tyde has been responding to treatment, however from the results given on day 8, Tyde has to have 12 months of intense chemotherapy and then 12 months of maintenance treatment.
Tydes two younger sisters along with all other family members had to be tested to identify if they were a match to be bone marrow donors. The family was extremely happy to find out Tydes older sister Tylah is a match, if they need it in the future.

Tyde has been having very intense chemotherapy treatment. There was only a 10% chance he could be a high risk patient and he was. Tydes survival rate then dropped another 20%. Tyde gets very sick and some treatments cause a lot of pain. He has had a lot of setbacks and many high and low periods.

Currently Tyde is going through his last intense chemotherapy treatment  and it has been a year since Tyde was diagnosed. He still as his last 12 months of maintenance treatment to go. This unfortunately does not eliminate financial stress and debt.

So please join the Fight For Tyde  journey, support him and his family as together with much love and support they can kick cancers ass.
