On August 6 & 7, 2015, I had my last Chemo Treatment at FCS (Florida Cancer Specialist) in S. Pasadena with Mom & Michelle (my Niece) by my side. I rode my bike, I was administered a booster shot, I had a great appetite...but I could tell something was wrong. The heat was kicking my ass, my three-story stairs were a challenge, I wanted to nap every afternoon and it was "Tax Free Week" for school shopping. With not work, no income and very little energy and immune system, I did what I could, when I could. Will's first day of school was August 24, 2015 & Michelle was there August 27th....the day I came home from my MRI. Before that....

I drove myself to my 10:00 AM MRI appointment. At 12:30, my films were rushed to Dr Ho office while Ken cancelled his afternoon to meet me at my Oncologist for the first time and share the newest findings that were still unbeknownst to me. My Non-Hodgkin's 100% remission was no longer an issue-I NOW HAVE BRAIN CANCER THE SIZE OF A WALNUT in the center stew of my brain! Imagine the blow to us ALL in that office visit! I was in remission, I was going back to work, I was going to be active in Will's middle school--& the PTA! I was kicking cancer's ass!!

Well, life isn't always like that : )

Fast forward, I did not tell my immediate family (Mom, siblings, etc) who celebrated Mary & Keith Steinke's wedding in Brown County, IN August 29, 2015--just yesterday! I was supposed to be there but I am not allowed to fly : ( I have been hanging with Michelle & Eddie, totally ignoring all Cancer Websites and Social Media. I have just been in "chill mode" with the entire cancer scare as I prepare for my spinal tap at 1:30 PM on August 31, 2015 to determine what this type of cancer is and to face my PLAN OF ATTACK!!

So sorry that this is NOT my last update,

~Helen~

Since this last update from Helen, a lot has happened. Helen was informed that she actually has three brain tumors not one. The Dr.'s were able to biopsy one of the three tumors which confirmed that she is dealing with Non Hodgkins CNS. Helen's ability to communicate has been severely impaired due to the aggressive nature of the tumor growth in her brain.
She is currently hospitalized and undergoing advance chemotherapy treatment.
Helen has always gone above and beyond for anyone who has crossed her path in life. Now it's our time to pay it forward and rally around this incredible woman who lights up a room with her presence.
