Our amazing, sweet, fur child was hit by a car yesterday evening. A storm and high winds weakened our fence and he found an exit. Unfortunately our yard backs up to a main access road, so the driver did not have much warning.
Odin suffered a total break of his left front forearm, some abrasions but thankfully no internal injuries.
Under normal circumstances, we would bring him in for the surgery he needs to set and secure the bones, but we are not anywhere near the normal range right now.
Many of you know we have been posting obituary notices every few months the last 5 years and asking for prayers as we process through the grief and health complications that have arisen in the aftermath. What you haven't seen is the daily struggle to find passion and purpose in moving forward after each loss. This is where our dogs have stepped in and provided a level of comfort and love that has filled our hearts and kept us moving forward.
Last April, Odin's older dane 'brother' needed emergency surgery for bloat. He came through a complicated procedure like a champ! At his final follow up visit, we found a cancerous bone tumor that amputation would not have fixed, so we set in motion pain management and gave him the best, most doggie spoiling 2 months he deserved. He told us when it was time to go and he left us peacefully in his human 'dads' arms.
We have a new job location and are getting ready to move in June. Because we have spent so much money on bereavement leave and are still paying for the medical expenses that our other fur baby needed, we simply can't afford to pay for the surgery our Odin needs to fix his leg and still have what we need to pack up and move across the country.
Please help us by donating any amount you can. We only need to cover the cost of Odin's surgery as we can cover the after care and all other expenses. This would mean so much to us because another loss would be devastating at this time.
