TSPA Studios Air Con Fund
Tillie’s School of Performing Arts celebrated its 5th birthday in September last year. After years of teaching drama and musical theatre to our students in school halls and community centres we made the huge investment to purchase and renovate our own premises in Clevedon- opening TSPA Studios in January 2019.
The studios are a warm and welcoming place to learn drama, dance and singing. We have 3 studios including dance floors, floor to ceiling mirrors, a reception/waiting room as well as dressing rooms and lots of storage for our lovely costumes and props. We have just over 200 wonderful students and as well as drama/dance/voice training we offer lots of theatre experiences too.
The COVID-19 pandemic has meant we sadly had to close our studio doors in March, but we are keeping in touch with our students via online classes and videos. Of course from a business point of view this has been pretty devastating, we have lost near enough all our income and still have the studio mortgage, staff wages, electricity and various other bills to pay. We have been so grateful to have had a lot of support from our TSPA families and we are determined that we will open our studio doors again.
Unfortunately we were delivered another huge blow during a routine air conditioning service- all three air con/ heating units have been labelled unsafe for further use and as our only source of heating/cooling need replacing before we can reopen our doors.
The cost of safely taking out and disposing of the old units and putting in new units is around £14,000. We have been fortunate enough to have secured a Government backed loan to cover this cost initially, but we will need to make repayments.
We are setting ourselves a goal to try and raise these funds over the next year and will be putting on a whole range of fundraising events and activities.
