High water and Covid-19 have put a strain on Veniceonboard association. Help us to save our laboratory and beloved boats, symbols of the Venetian traditions that are disappearing. Anticipate today the rowing or sailing lessons that you will take tomorrow!
Our history
Venice On Board is a sports and cultural association founded in Venice in 2014 thanks to the passion of three young Venetians who wanted to safeguard the maritime traditions of their city and to sensitize the community to the use of rowing and sailing boats, respecting the environment and promoting a truly sustainable tourism.
The adventure began with the restoration of the first boat (sanpierota built in the 1970s), with which we began to share our passion by doing Venetian rowing courses and vela al terzo, a typical way of sailing. The teaching activities had the function of financing all the restorations of our fleet, which today has nine boats of important historical value.
Over the years, the activity has become a point of reference for the whole community for sharing and discovering the seafaring culture, between oars and sails. With its commitment, Venice on Board has managed to bring together young and old people,
beginners and experts, locals and foreigners, and most of all children, who are the future of Venice.
Difficulties
In this period, between the high tides and the restrictive measures due to the Coronavirus emergency, it became difficult for us to sustain the costs of renting the laboratory and buying the materials for the ordinary maintenance of our precious boats. Being non-profit association, every year we have reinvested our capital in the restoration of other old boats. And so last December, between an infinity of taxes and the purchase of a Venetian topeto and another sanpierota, we have exhausted our economicresources.
We are sure that sharing this precious knowledge is an important value not to be lost, but to continue we need some support to keep our space in Cannaregio open and to survive, to buy materials for the maintenance of the boats, to cover the expenses for the months in which we will not be able to carry out our daily lessons.
The request for help
For this reason, we invite all those who wish and care about our project to support us.
Rather than limiting ourselves to a request for money, we thought about this formula: today you can anticipate the money of a rowing or sailing lesson (with the membership in the association included) that we are committed to carry out as soon as possible. However, of course, any free donation is also warmly welcome!

La nostra storia
Venice On Board è un’associazione sportiva e culturale fondata a Venezia nel 2014 grazie alla passione di tre giovani veneziani che volevano salvaguardare le tradizioni marinaresche della loro città e sensibilizzare la comunità all’uso di barche a remi e vela nel rispetto dell’ambiente e promuovere un turismo realmente sostenibile
L’avventura è cominciata con il restauro della prima barca (una sanpierota di nome Mima costruita negli anni ’70), con cui abbiamo cominciato a condividere la nostra passione facendo dei corsi di voga alla veneta e vela al terzo. Le attività di insegnamento hanno avuto la funzione di finanziare tutti i restauri della nostra flotta, che oggi conta nove barche di importante valore storico.
L’attività, negli anni, ha assunto spessore nella comunità, diventando un punto di riferimento per la condivisione e la scoperta della cultura marinaresca. Con il suo impegno, Venice on Board è riuscita a mettere insieme principianti ed esperti, locali e stranieri, anziani e sopratutto bambini che sono il futuro di Venezia.
Le difficoltà
In questo periodo, tra l'acqua alta e lo stop alle attività dovuto al Coronavirus, ci troviamo in difficoltà nel sostenere i costi di affitto del laboratorio e dei materiali necessari alle manutenzioni ordinarie delle nostre preziose barche. Essendo una associazione no-profit, ogni anno abbiamo reinvestito il nostro capitale in vecchie barche da restaurare. E così a Dicembre scorso, tra una infinità di tasse e l'acquisto di un topeto veneziano e di una sanpierota, abbiamo dato fondo alle nostre risorse.
Siamo certi che la condivisione di questo prezioso sapere sia un valore importante da non perdere, ma perché continui, abbiamo bisogno di un sostegno che ci permetta di tenere aperto il nostro spazio a Cannaregio e sopravvivere, di acquistare i materiali per il mantenimento delle barche, ovvero di coprire le spese per i mesi in cui non potremo svolgere le nostre consuete lezioni.
La richiesta di aiuto
Per questa ragione chiediamo un supporto a tutti coloro che desiderano sostenerci e a chi ha a cuore il nostro progetto. Piuttosto che limitarci a una richiesta di denaro abbiamo pensato a questa formula: potete anticipare oggi i soldi di una lezione di voga o vela (con iscrizione all'associazione inclusa) che ci impegneremo ad effettuare appena sarà possibile. Ben accette però anche eventuali donazioni libere!
