About Tsosoloso

Tsosoloso Educational Programme strongly believes that use and access to information can expand the interest of STEM as a career choice within young girls in rural communities and reach the desired social breakthrough and advancement; well as spread freedom of opportunities in historically underserved communities.

This is why for the past few years, the registered non-profit start-up based in Pretoria, South Africa has been working with schools lacking essential educational facilities and resources, where learners are from poor stricken rural communities and informal settlements. Schools in these geographic areas do not have facilities and resources to support the development of learners.

We are proud of our accomplishments thus far to advance learning in rural South Africa through distributing self-published bilingual educational content; facilitate training workshops on spelling, reading techniques and interactive learning as well as setting up library facilities and digital platforms to advance learning and technology.  We partnered with Google CS first intro to coding and computer science to teach critical thinking fundamentals and sequence of events in building programs. Our adopted framework is to promote innovation, problem solving outlook, collaboration, critical thinking and experiential learning among our learners using technology as a driver.

In the old world where interactive and engaged teaching was encouraged in a classroom, we have now pivoted from traditional forms of teaching (pre Covid) to accessibility and collaboration without face to face interaction. We are now marrying old school methodologies with new school technologies as well as adapting into digital educational platforms and resources. We need your help to continue with this important work and increase the success rate to advance young girls and transitioning out of poverty.

Our Impact
*Our self published bilingual books have reached over 50 primary schools in deep rural villages, farms and mining areas
*Training workshops with supplementary material and lesson plans to 30 teachers in 3 schools
*Distributed over 3000 books across 3 primary schools
*Setup of literacy corners for 366 learners
*Adopted UNICEF’s Tippy Tap initiative to promote good hygiene and improve child healthcare *pre covid :)
*Google CS First Coding
