Troy Smith’s Recovery Relief

Donation protected
On August 14, 2016, a day before his 42nd birthday, my husband Troy suffered a heart attack. During the days that followed, the lack of oxygen and his weakened heart resulted in acute kidney failure and pneumonia as well. As the days passed, while under heavy sedation, the doctors and nurses worked around the clock to bring Troy back to us.

Troy is still hanging on and everything is slowly moving in the right direction, but we still have a long road ahead of us.

As you can imagine, this has had a huge impact on me, Troy, and our children.  Troy will be in recovery for months and unable to work anytime in the near future. We are trying to work out the insunce side of things. Obamacare, while great in theory, was way out of our budget and I regret that we no longer have it when it's really needed.  Meanwhile, I find myself struggling to find time to do the work needed to sustain my family’s living & household expenses (rent, vehicle payments, electric, etc. - the basics you just can't survive without), while carrying on the roll of wife, mom, taxi, caregiver, cheerleader and the many other hats I typically wear and new ones I have now aquired in the past couple weeks.

Many have asked how they can help and I've tried to say support and positive thoughts are all I need - I will figure the rest out somehow. Like many out there, we didn't have savings for an emergency like this. I’ve never found it easy to reach out for help, but I’ve realized it’s time to do so before our family suffers anymore then we already have. With that in mind, this fund is being set up to help offset our most immediate needs like utilites, household and unplanned expenses that may arise for the Smith Family during Troy’s road to recovery.

We are ever so grateful for your donation of any amount to help alleviate some of the financial stress on Troy and his family so that we can continue to focus on his recovery.  Even if you are not in a position to give, helping spread the word to others who may be able to help would be an amazing gift as well.

Your contribution and healing thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Warmly,
The Smith Family
