Trusted in the Courts-Let Down

My wife and I, both school teachers, sold our house to relocate our family closer to work.  After we sold the home, the buyer discovered cracks in the foundation that were hidden from view by a workbench that had been in the house when we purchased it 9 years ago.  The buyers claimed that we intentionally hid the cracks and sued us for repairs and legal fees.  We knew we were in the right so did not settle and went to trial.  Unfortunately for us, the legal system let us down.  The judge paid little attention to the testimony of myself, my wife, and three other witnesses who testified that the cracks had not been hidden intentionally and that we had never experienced any leakage or flooding.  The judge allowed an inspector, who had never seen the cracks, to be an expert witness and testify about the cracks.  The judge ruled against us and now we are on the hook for almost $19,000 in repairs and legal fees which need to be paid as quickly as possible.  My wife and I decided to represent ourselves in this matter and unfortunately the system clearly favors those who pay for a lawyer to represent them.  The judge was unwilling to listen to objections about the inspector and discounted our testimony.  When we swore to tell the truth that is exactly what we did.  This expense will have an adverse impact on our family financially which, had the legal system worked the way it is supposed to work, would not have let us down.  We would be eternally grateful to anyone who is willing to stand with us on the side of justice and help us out of this grave financial burden.
