Help Fund Black Queer Fashion Film: True Colors
Donation protected
My name is David J. Amado. I am a Jamaican choreographer and filmmaker currently living in Lisbon by way of New York City, fundraising for my next project, a fashion film entitled True Colors. The film is a multimedia production that incorporates music, dance, fashion, and poetry. It explores how standards of masculinity encourage Black queer men to silence their voices, express themselves in a more “acceptable” way, and mute their “true colors.”
We have experienced some setbacks due to unexpected immediate expenses. Received donations will help to complete post-production: video editing, photo editing and post-production sound. To complete the film, we are only 2,500€ short of our goal.
This project is important because the representation of Black queer people in Portugal is scarce, and work opportunities are limited. By supporting this project, you would be helping to disrupt this trend and empower our community of artists.
