Help Troy with his surgery

Donation protected
My husband Troy is experiencing a serious amount of pain & discomfort due to an inguinal hernia. An inguinal hernia occurs when soft tissue "” usually part of the membrane lining the abdominal cavity or part of the intestine "” protrudes through a weak point in the abdominal muscles. In his case intestines are going through the inguinal canal to the scrotum. Without corrective surgery there is a high risk of strangulation to the intestine, wich could lead to further complications; including emergency surgery that has higher risks as well. The resulting bulge can be painful, especially when you cough, bend over or lift a heavy object.

Troy is scheduled for surgery on May 8th to fix the hernia. Unfortunately, our health insurance will not cover this operation.
The health insurance policy is new and they have a 6 month waiting period for this surgery. We have tried to get financial assistance through the hospital, but our income together doesn't qualify or meet the income guidelines.

Troy is in so much pain he can't even stand up straight and going to work has been challenging. He is a passionate mountain biker and is physically fit. He would like to maintain his quality of life so he can continue to work & enjoy life's little pleasures. Anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.

Troy is concerned he may have multiple hernias, as the pain is in several areas and he can feel something isn't right in his body. The surgeon he is scheduled to see for surgery to fix the hernia on 5/8 is on vacation. He was able to make an appointment for a re-evaluation on 5/7. We are hoping he only has the one hernia. The hospital quoted us $20,000 just for the one hernia fix, they said that doesn't include sedation or anesthesia or the physician's fee or other diagnostics. I think $40,000 is what we can expect to pay for one hernia; but I can't ask for that much money, it doesn't seem attainable. We are looking into other options, but so far haven't found a good solution. I know this will be tough financially for us, the surgeon said he'll be out of work for 2-6 weeks after the surgery. He's already missed several days of work just from the pain.
