Troy's Cancer Care III

Donation protected
Hello again,

My name is Troy Moore, and I am starting a new go fund me campaign to raise money for a stem cell transplant.  I was originally  diagnosed with cancer back in 2018 and have done 2 separate chemotherapy treatments previously.  The cancer has returned, so now I will be receiving high dose chemo that will be followed by stem cell transplants.

I previously had a go fund me campaign during my 2nd round of chemo and am still here fighting in part because of the tremendous amount of love and support shared with me during that campaign.  I would like to thank everyone again, and say if you already donated to my cause, I don't expect you to donate again.  Just send some love my way.  I did not renew my old go fund me account, so it closed after 1 year.  I am starting this new campaign to keep open an avenue of support, due to continuing medical bills.  Maybe it will get national attention and I'll raise a lot of money.

I am fortunate to have my lovely wife Cinesta for support, but unfortunately, I am unable to work.  I applied for disability and am awaiting a response but was told that could be a year away.  I know this is a tough time for everyone which makes starting another campaign even harder, but this is what I have to do.

The medical part of this is called stem cell transplant. This is a simple version of the treatment plan.  The doctors will remove my stem cells from my bone marrow and freeze them.  I then receive high dose chemotherapy.  This is strong enough that it kills all of the stem cells I naturally have in my bone marrow (and the cancer).  Then they transplant my frozen cells back into my body where they can start making blood again.  After a month or so I will do the chemo and transplant again.

My wife and I live in Vancouver, Washington and I am doing my treatment at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland.  During part of my treatment the American Cancer Society arranged volunteer transportation, but with COVID that is no longer an option.  So, the funding is for co-pays, transportation, medicine, insurance deductibles.  I am currently going to OHSU every day for injections and it adds up.

I am scheduled to start my first round of high dose chemo on December 30 and admit to the hospital on January 3.  I have already done one round of stem cell collection and plan to do another round of collection Monday or Tuesday.  I will keep this post up to date about how everything is going.  Last time Cinesta did all the go fund me organizing, so it may look a little different this time.

If you are rich and want to donate to someone who could use a little help, this is the campaign for you.  If you’re not rich but have extra money you plan to donate, I would be very grateful for the help.

Thanks again to everyone who supported me through the last round of chemo.  You have no idea how much the love and support helps.  I would also like to thank anyone who can donate,  I know during these COVID times it is twice as hard, but thanks.
