Trish's Fight Against Thymoma

Donation protected
Hi all! My name is Kathlyn Carney and I am so blessed to be able to call Trish Churchill my best friend for the last 9 years.

Trish and I met freshman year of high school at Archmere Academy and quickly became inseparable. Even though we both ended up at different colleges and in different cities, we have remained extremely close. Trish is currently studying at the prestigious Thomas Jefferson University’s College of Pharmacy where she is completing her Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

She is one of the hardest working people that I have ever met, so it was no surprise to me when she was accepted to the Jefferson College of Pharmacy. I know I speak for so many people when I say that Trish is one of the most dedicated, resilient, selfless and kind people I have ever met. Trish always puts her friends and family first and she has taught so many of us what it means to truly care about someone.

In the midst of finishing her last didactic year at Thomas Jefferson University and enjoying her favorite city, Philadelphia, Trish received unexpected news. At the end of February, Trish was diagnosed with the rare autoimmune disease Myasthenia Gravis and more recently stage 4A Thymoma. A thymoma is a tumor that is found in about 10% of patients with Myasthenia Gravis. Trish’s tumor is currently too large to surgically remove, so she is estimated to undergo 4-6 cycles of chemotherapy to shrink the tumor; in hopes that it can be surgically removed following treatment.

When Trish told me the news, I was devastated and couldn’t believe this was happening to her. However, I have never met a stronger person than my best friend and I know if anyone can get through this, it’s her. Her attitude since she found out about her recent health conditions has been incredibly admirable. She is determined to complete her final semester of academics on time and begin her final year of rotations as planned in May. Every time I talk to Trish, she is positive and encourages all of her friends and family to have the same optimistic attitude. Despite her situation, Trish has never once asked for sympathy and has continued to be the same resilient and compassionate woman that we all know and love.

By creating this page, we’d like for the Churchill family to solely focus on Trish’s healing process. It is our goal for her to receive the best possible treatment without insurance limiting the medication options available to her. Please join us in supporting Trish’s journey to a cure. All donations will be used for any medical out-of-pocket expenses that the Churchill’s will endure.

Thank you so much for your time and donation - it is greatly appreciated.
