We are thrilled to announce that our Senior dancers have qualified with 'Giselle' for the Children's Large Group Classical Ballet section representing Team England at the Dance World Cup Finals in Portugal in June / July 2019.
We are one of only 2 groups to qualify for this section to represent Team England, so this is a huge accomplishment and honour.
'Giselle' has won several accolades already, having placed first overall in the York heats of 'That's Showbiz', and second overall in the Semi-Finals of the same event in Blackpool. The team is excited to be performing in the Finals in Liverpool in March.
However, the cost of all these trips and journeys in order to compete at such a high national level costs a substantial amount of money (entry fees, tickets, travel, accommodation, rehearsals, costumes, uniform, dance shoes, accompanying parents, chaperones etc). For the Dance World Cup Finals, all Team England dancers need to wear the Team England Kit when travelling to Portugal, during the opening and closing ceremonies, at all times at the venue, and for adjudication etc. Dancers need to purchase this kit themselves.
Our team of dancers are all extremely talented young people, many with aspirations to become professional dancers. Those of the correct age have already successfully gained places at prestigious vocational training institutions and conservatoires for entry Sept 2019 such as Bird College, English National Ballet School, Laine Theatre Arts. They have achieved this through hard work, many years of commitment, talent and financial investment in their futures. As young dancers up to the age of 17, they have many more years of financial commitment and expense to complete their training.
Given the expense of professional vocational dance training, it would be absolutely wonderful if we were able to support them in their Dance World Cup venture as much as possible. Funds raised will go towards the Team England Kit, flights, accommodation, travel to and from the venue, rehearsals, entry fees, tickets etc for the dancers only.
Many thanks for reading and for your support in advance. We are extremely grateful for any funds raised. The finals of the Dance World Cup are live-streamed, so you will all be able to watch our performance live from Portugal! Meanwhile, we will keep you updated with our preparations for this exciting venture, so keep hopping back to this page to see how we are getting on.
