Trip to the Czech Republic

I have been playing ball hockey, also known as dek hockey, since I was 7 years old. After my shift of my first game, I knew that I loved hockey. Since then, I have been playing hockey year round up until I started college in the fall. In the past I have gotten to compete in national tournaments and other smaller tournaments along the way but nothing compares to the opportunity I have this summer.
Last summer, in 2016, I aged out of the co-ed league I had been playing in and could no longer play on the All-Star team that went to those tournaments. Luckily, I found and joined an all women's league. I joined a team that was all relatively young players who were all looking for a team to be on. We started the team a few years ago now we compete against some of the best women’s teams in the country.
Joining this women’s league allowed me to meet very important people in the ball hockey community. I met amazing coaches, players, and staff that have made me a better player and person. The coaches and staff have given me the opportunity of a lifetime.
I was given a spot on the US Under 20 National team. This means I will get to travel to the Czech Republic this summer and compete in a worldwide tournament against teams from Canada, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the United Kingdom, and other countries. This is the first time that an all girls U20 team has been made and I am honored to represent women in sports and the United States, while playing the sport I love. When I started playing ball hockey it was just for fun but throughout the years it has grown as a sport worldwide and now I am one of few people who have the chance to play it while traveling and competeing against the best in the world.
While this experience is extraordinary, it is also very expensive. There are team fees along with travel and other fees along the way like training camps and tournaments we have to do together. I am trying to raise money so that I can afford this once in a lifetime trip to Europe. I need your help to make my dream come true!
I will keep everyone updated during the trip and let you know how the team is doing as well as post pictures of the beautiful sites, and all of the hockey that will be going on!
