TRI-FOR-CHRISTMAS

Donation protected
Hi all,

Last year, on St. Stephen’s Day we ran a 5k walk event which was well supported and enjoyed by everybody who took part.

This year, due to COVID-19 and Government restrictions, we are unable to host the same event as we are advised that it is against advice to ask people to gather in large crowds. However, we have been asked to organise an event that hopefully people who wish to can take part in, to help raise money for local projects while still respecting all Government advice and guidelines in a safe environment.

BCDL Friendship Club has been running in our local area for the last number of years and provides companionship and a social outlet for many of our elderly relatives and neighbours. It has proven to be a very popular meeting place and a source of great enjoyment to all who use it. Due to COVID-19, this past year has been a difficult time for BCDL Friendship Club, curtailing their activities and fundraising efforts. Our fundraising committee has decided that whatever funds are raised this year through our St. Stephen’s Day event will be shared with BCDL Friendship Club. It gives us all an opportunity to give something back to our elderly relatives and neighbours who have contributed immensely to the thriving community that we have today.

We are asking ANYONE who is able-bodied to take part in our TRI-FOR-CHRISTMAS on the Christmas weekend. Walk, Run, Cycle, Swim…… whatever you like! Just do an event, in your own time, between Thursday the 24th December and Sunday the 27th December, wherever you like…….around the house, around the walking track or just up the road! You could even encourage friends and family abroad, who can’t be with us this year to take part. It gives everybody a good chance to help local causes while taking a small bit of exercise and getting rid of the Christmas pudding guilt!!

We are suggesting; a 2K walk or a 5k run or a 20k cycle or a 500mt swim.

Simply pick one ….. whatever suits you and your ability (young or old!)….. or maybe even do them all if you’re up for it!

Share your TRI activity with us! Send us your photos, pics, screenshots of your fitness tracker or yourself and family… whatever suits you…. to Pairc Mhic Eochagain or St. Malachys Facebook page and we will share your support!
