Tri-fector; Stroke, Surgery, Cancer

I call this a tri-fector for 3 real life reasons that has happened to my mom Cheryl which has turned her life upside down and desperately needs help to just live.
Tri-Fector 1
It started off when my mom come to the family and tearfully told us she has breast cancer. She had gone to the doctor because of some discomfort she was having to find out Cancer has invaded her and she will have to go into the cycles of chemo-therapy. Of course this was a set back for the family... but with the modern health systems we have and the willingness of my mom, we could beat this. After 10 months of harsh Chemo treatment, mom become a survivor of cancer. The family was celebrating with great joy and happiness.
These were challenging times for our family and certainly did not help mom out financially being off work for about 12 months due to the level of Chemo she had to take.
Tri-Fector 2
Thinking life would get back to normal... we had another hurdle challenging us in another profound way...
The cancer had affected her body which started the 2nd part of the Tri-fector. Just near the end of moms chemo treatment, we began to notice mom was limping worse by the day. After discussion with mom... who is tough as nails... we went to the doctor. We were sent to a specialist, which took about another 12 to 14 weeks to get into, and we were told mom needed a full knee replacement and we were scheduled in for surgery which would take up to 8 to 10 months. Unfortunately, her knee was so bad, she was unable to walk any distance and kept her almost caged up at home.
Finally the day come and the knee replacement was completed. I was surprised how quickly you can walk after knee surgery, however recovery is slow and tedious. It took mom roughly a year to recoup from this.
Again the family was relieved and all seemed to be going well .
Mom just sorta started looking for work...
BOOM!!!
Tri-Fector 3...
Mom has a stroke, AVM to be precise which is a slow bleed in her brain from a broken blood vessel. How mom was discovered is a story I have a hard time explaining because of guilt and would rather not right now. Again the family was put in a serious tailspin... A million questions by doctors in emergency room asking us what we should do, how we should proceed, potential long term concerns, what may happen in the next 2 hours, 8 hours, decisions on whether or not to begin the operation right now... all of this with in the first few hours of mom being diagnosed with the AVM stroke... which were extremely critical.
As you stand there looking at Mom on the bed, in the emergency room of the hospital, your heart sinks to what seems less nothing. We knew moms wishes, however, there is always a glimmer of hope, small, but a glimmer. Of course we moved forward, sending mom into surgery on her brain for 8 hours which we understand to be extensive surgery. The Doctor and staff were fantastic people, caring and worked with us in every way. For the next 24 hours would tell the tale if mom would survive this too. Well, she did, and spent the next 8 days in ICU with no response to life at all. They transferred mom to the next unit on day 9 with very little to no response.
The road to recovery has been long and hard. Mom spent 20 days in the hospital and then transferred to a physiotherapy/long term hospital in our city.
It was tough watching a fighter like mom struggle and for the next 130 days she fought tooth and nail to get better... and fell short. The AVM stroke was really hard on her causing significant damage to her brain. We had to move her out into a care facility to make her meals and she seemed to improve. A year latter we moved her again into a seniors complex where she is more independent... and now the expenses have taken over and mom is struggling to live a life of any sort.
Mom needs help with home nursing which comes at a great expense... an expense we don't know how to afford. Mom will need meals prepared for her, another expense that has taken more than can be afforded. She needs special transit to get around, another expense that she struggles to afford. Her medication is not a great amount, but there is enough that it becomes a challenge for her to pay monthly.
For 5 years, my mom has been challenged to the max with this Tri-Fector... She needs a leg up today.
