Mother Cabrini Statue in Rochester's Little Italy
Tax deductible
Dear Friends:
With this important fundraising initiative, we're raising funds to create and install a permanent statue of Mother Cabrini in Rochester's "Little Italy Historic District" on Lyell Avenue.
The Lyell corridor is one of Rochester's oldest immigrant's corridors. For over 150 years, the area has served as an inclusive and welcoming place of first entry for many Italian immigrants, and for immigrants of all cultures, as they first settled in the Greater Rochester area.
St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, ("Mother Cabrini"), is the Patron Saint of all immigrants to the United States. She was the first American citizen to be canonized, and she dedicated her life to serving and protecting immigrants, children and families of all cultures.
The installation of a statue and garden in Mother Cabrini's memory, honoring her legacy of community service, and honoring all immigrants, would help beautify and revitalize the historic district area, and would help increase tourism and visitors to the area; and would also help transform the area into a safe and family-oriented destination place.
This exciting initiative compliments ours and the City of Rochester's efforts to revitalize this historic Little Italy district area of the city, and the statue would serve as a positive symbol of freedom, prosperity, faith and hope for all immigrants, who over the past century have sought a better life for their families, in their quest for the American Dream.
