Tribute & Memorial For George Lee Norman III

Donation protected
"This is going to be our year, Trish!" - My brother said to me when we spoke on New Year's Day 2021.

My name is Martrisha and I am asking for help with final expenses for my beloved brother and business partner, George Lee Norman III,  known as "Lee" by his closest friends & family. He was taken from us suddenly and violently in an unprovoked attack on January 8th, 2021. He was 37 years old.

The theft of Lee's very valued life has crushed us and our family was not prepared for the high costs of funeral expenses.  Your donation is important and will be used to bring him home to NC and lay him to rest with the dignity he deserves.  Specifically, the funds would be applied to transportation costs, funeral home & burial fees, flowers, casket, and memorial service. He did not have life insurance.  We need to gather funds together over the next 72 hours so I can manage Lee's final expenses and arrangements.

Lee was born on the first day of summer in 1983.  As a kid, he was fun and more than a little mischievous, adventurous and good at fixing things.  He was athletic, had a great sense of humor, and was easy to like. As an adult, he was a hard-working entrepreneur skilled in the trades, a devoted son, a loving uncle to my 4 children, and enjoyed working on cars as a hobby.  It would be impossible to describe everything he was and still is to our family.  I cannot find the words to express how much his presence will be missed.

Why was 2021 going to be our year? Because in early 2020, he and I had finally taken the leap on an idea we had talked about for a while.  In spite of a growing pandemic, we launched Homeowners Project Installers LLC  in March and began an amazing partnership towards building a family business that would financially support us, serve our communities, and create jobs. Lee was a specialist at window and vinyl siding installation, having worked with our father in the trades since he was a young teen. I had not been trained in the trades but it's in my DNA and I believed so strongly in my brother's vision, that I entered a training program for women as we began working on projects for our clients.

Lee taught me how to install windows and siding. He was training my oldest sons, his nephews.

In a few short months, he tried to teach me all the tips, tricks, and wisdom he had gained over decades of construction work. We learned together how to construct solid and beautiful decks. He cheered me on as I studied and gained skills. He was so proud when I was interviewed on CBS This Morning on Christmas Eve as part of a feature on the women's trades training program I graduated from and continue to support.  In the first 9 months of our business, we bootstrapped our way to a nice start. This family business meant everything to us and we lived lean while investing our profit back into our business so that we could invest in better tools, a good work truck, training courses, and employees to help us expand in 2021.

I loved working alongside this man. Now I have to try and find my way without my lead installer, my trusted business partner, and my precious brother.  Without a doubt, I will push forward. Because although someone took his life, I will not let his dream be taken too.
