Hello to all reading this. My name is Cassandra Rivera and unfortunately I have to write this to reach out to the people who care for my father, Steve Cross, and ask for some help.
My Dad was in a near fatal bicycle accident last Saturday in Tahoe, where he spends his summers. He was traveling downhill when something unknown made him brake and fly off of his bike going, headfirst, into rocks. After losing a pulse a nearby nurse and biker performed CPR and were able to bring him back, soon after he was airlifted to Renown hospital in Reno. He has been in the ICU and recently had surgery to repair the fractures in his face. Thankfully Dad did not suffer brain damage but he severely fractured his neck and damaged his spinal cord which is creating the most danger.
As of right now he is able to move his lower body but is not able to move his upper body.
For the last 12 years my Dad has been doing what he loves to do which is caddying, he has spent 12 winters in Palm Desert caddying at Bighorn and 8 summers at Edgewood in Tahoe. We can only pray that this is not the end of that but from what the doctors say it is not looking like he will ever be able to caddie and do what he loves again. It will be an extremely long journey until he will be able to support himself and family financially again.
