A MESSAGE FROM TREVOR:
Hi everyone, as some of you may be aware I have recently been diagnosed with a dramatic life-changing condition called Functional Neurological Disorder.
Although this condition now affects a lot of people it is still relatively unheard of, and many healthcare professionals are still are unsure as to how to treat this condition as this affects everyone differently.
In my case, it started with the loss of use of all four limbs, but has now progressed to a large number of different symptoms some of which include total paralysis, loss of memory, sight, speech and hearing. Whilst I do not experience all of these symptoms at once the worse thing about the condition is that every day is different; and as Forest Gump would say "you never know what you're gonna get".
I have 3 young children at home and mobility is becoming a more serious issue for me now, most days are now spent praying that I am able to do basic things with them like eat a meal, play games, and even just take them to the park. For my wife and family, the main thing daily is to get me out of bed and out and about. This is why we are trying to raise funds for an electric wheelchair.
Although life might never be normal for me again I can at least try to live as normally as possible. This chair will mean that I will be able to move around myself and can start to enjoy simple activities like going out with the kids rather than being stuck at home or relying on other people to be about to help all of the time.
