Tree Planting in Cornwall

Hello my name is Francesca, I am an Italian living in Cornwall. 

Two years ago Greg, my husband,  and I bought 3 hectares of land on the edge of Bartinney Downs, West Penwith, right next to Carn Euny ancient village, on the sacred route to Boscawen-noon Stone Circle.

We named the land Gwedhegi a Keridwen, eg. woodland of Keridwen. She’s a Cornish goddess/priestess/old wise lady that many times has manifested her self into my dreams to guide us in this journey of guardianship of this land. 

The Parish in the area was famous for its pigs, because people used to feed them acorns rather than fish guts as it is custom here in this part of Cornwall. However, mining came and now not one oak tree stands! 
So, we are replanting with over 2000 oak trees along with alder, sweet chestnut, willow, hazel, rowan, birch and pine.

In the last two years we've already planted 2000 trees in total. This winter we would like to plant another 2000, and next winter hopefully another 2000. 

The £2000 we are counting to crowd fund will exclusively serve for buying 50% of the number of trees we will need for this year planting, 1000 trees in total. 
We embraced this project in full spirit and with total dedication, however we gracefully receive any support given and this will allow us to maintain the initial plan of planting 6000 trees in three years, so to have a young woodland in 8 years’ time for us and the community to benefit from.

In times of uncertainty like we are living now it really warms our heart to know that there are people out there that want to support tree planting and care about the planet.  We gracefully receive any help and mean of support given. 

So here a few questions answered for you:

How the funds will be used?
All the money will be used to buy trees for our land, Gwedhegi a Keridwen, in Cornwall.

When do we need the funds by?
As soon as we will start receiving funds we will use the money to buy trees. Trees can only be planted in the winter, therefore we would need the full amount by the end of December 2019, so to be able to plant all trees during the months of January and February, before springs arrives.

What will the land be used for?
The land will hopefully become a young woodland in 8/10 years' time and it will be used by Greg and I to host conscious events that are aimed to rise environmental awareness here in the area for locals as well for people that are coming from far away. 
We will have space for camping and the possibility to welcome sacred fires and wisdom keepers to share their knowledge with us.

What will you get in return? 
We are so grateful for everybody that has donated so far to the cause and for all friends and friends to be that will donate and share our dream for a greener planet. We strongly believe in the power of good, positive actions and the potential for the human beings to restore their relationship with Mother Nature.
