Tree of Peace Unity Walk
We will plant 44 Trees of Peace (White Pine) in communities across Canada during the Tree of Peace Unity Walk. It will call by petition, the planting of a National Tree of Peace on Parliament Hill in Ottawa at the conclusion of the walk.
Dream-Vison of Deganawidah - the Peacemaker
The Tree of Peace Unity Walk, the dream-vision of the Deganawidah, the Peacemaker, came to me from the Vision Giver. The vision is to bring Canadian First Nation People’s and non-indigenous peoples of all walks of life together to walk hand-in-hand for the healing of our past and move forward, with respect and honour for each other. To be a peace nation and a model for the world.
We will plant 44 Trees of Peace (White Pine) in communities across Canada during the Tree of Peace Unity Walk, including a call for each provincial parliament to have a Tree of Peace planted on parliament grounds.
The Tree of Peace Unity Walk calls by petition, the planting of a National Tree of Peace on Parliament Hill in Ottawa at the conclusion of the walk.
National Walk
Tree of Peace Unity Walk phase one, Thursday April 25, 2019 - autumn 2019
The first leg of the National Walk begins on the Highway of Tears starting from Prince Rupert to Prince George, British Columbia, on Thursday April 25, 2019 in memory of the victims of the Highway of Tears. Along the route of the Highway of Tears Walking Thunder will be planting 25 Trees of Peace (not including the 44 Trees of Peace) in honour of each of the women. He will be continuing the walk across British Columbia and across the country and will culminate when Walking Thunder has walked the across the country and arrives in Ottawa in the autumn of 2019.
Tree of Peace Unity Walk phase two, Saturday April 11, 2020 – Monday September 21, 2020
The second phase of the walk begins in St. John's, Newfoundland and culminates in Ottawa on International Peace Day, Monday September 21, 2020.
How to get involved:
Donation gift. Walking Thunder works with volunteers and dedicates 100% of his time to the Dream-Vison of Deganawidah - the Peacemaker, with no financial compensation. Donations are gratefully appreciated.
Petitions. The call for the National Peace Tree in Ottawa, and a Tree of Peace at each provincial capital building is called by petition. Download the petitions from the Petition page. Make sure to follow the detailed instructions so that your petition is valid.
Register your Community. To have one of the 44 Trees of Peace planted in your community contact us for information.
Walk. All people are welcome to join Walking Thunder during the different phases of the Tree of Peace Unity Walk.
Volunteer. We are looking for First Nations and non-indigenous Canadian volunteers. Please contact us.
First Nations People’s and non-indigenous peoples of Canada, walk together in unity to follow the four White Roots of Peace that will lead us to the Tree of Peace. As we walk, we will honour the territories of the First Nations People’s and Councils. It is time to heal and move forward together, for the next seven generations.
