TREE FELL ON FRIENDS HOME. LOST EVERYTHING!

Hi, my name is Cassie and I am raising funds for a dear friend of mine who had a tree fall on her home yesterday morning, just before sunrise here in Charlotte, NC. As you can imagine, she is certainly upset, worried and shaken up by it all.

Fortunately she was able to climb out of a small severed part through her roofing and get out.
Law Enforcement officials were advised not to go in after her due to the risk of collapse as the entire home is now condemned. When she escaped, she left wearing only a nightgown and slippers where she was then transferred to Atrium South Park for further evaluation. Upon her arrival, doctors determined her infjuries were not life threatening.
Rusty, a loved and well known active member of the local Dilworth area, was fortunate to only suffer lacerations to her head, neck and chest.

She did require 17 stitches and, understandably still so distraught in lieu of this recent tragedy.

While Rusty has a well known reputation for being the fun, loving, warm hearted woman we all know and love - she is quite devastated and feeling so much hopelessness. The home, being that of hers and her late husband’s. Many memories. So much love, and so much loss. Over the years Rusty’s family members have sadly passed on, leaving her feeling the heavy toll of loneliness weighing on her heart in most recent times. I remember when I told her I was no longer going to be living across the street, right when COVID hit. She was so saddened to hear it, as I was keen to see her and check on her when I could. We would exchange little goods with one another, she’s met my children. I’ve known her as a customer for a “short time” only because, she quickly became the family member I never knew I needed.

When I got my first apartment, she didn’t ask me what I needed. She just gave me some items anyone would be so appreciative to have when they’re first getting on their feet. She did so without hesitation because that’s just the kind of person Rusty is. Truly.

Rusty’s phone and cat were also left in the home without any following information from law enforcement about when she might be able to attempt to salvage what’s left. I know this is quite the task but I truly believe in the power of a community coming together for those in need.

SHE NEEDS OUR HELP.
100% of donations will be going directly to Rusty.
Anything is appreciated.

Also, should anyone come across affordable rental properties feel free to reach out as that will be the next step we’re looking at in solving for her.

Thank you so much, and please if you can’t donate - share this out as much as possible because that in itself, really goes a long way.
