Help Tre go to JSU Band Camp & more

Band is literally the world to me. I grew up eating and breathing marching band. My mother was a trumpet player for her middle and high school band. My father played the bass drum for Ballou Senior High School (my current school) and Eastern Senior High School, my dad passed away when I was nine years my dad passes. When my father died, it pushed me to believe that the sky is really the limit and no one can stop me. It took a toll on me mentally, physically and socially. Growing up without a father figure is hard but more so because he is not physically here to support me and see me do something that he enjoyed doing. To make things worse, I also lost my grandfather who was my BIGGEST supporter. Over the course of this school year I’ve had the opportunity to march in the Miss America parade, South Carolina State and Bowie State University Homecoming Parade and Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade. I will also be marching in The National Cherry Blossom Parade on April 8th, 2017.

The reason I would like to attend Jackson State University band camp is because I feel it can keep enhance my skills and continue to build my confidence, character and maturity level. As I enter into my senior year of high school. I’m looking forward to attending JSU. This is my first choice for college. Being able to attend band camp like this means a lot to me because I can get the exposure I need and learn how other drum majors operate on a regular day to day basis. Becoming a drum major in college is something I intend to do. Lastly attending this band camp will give me ideas on how I can help the band continue to be the best. I need everyone's help so I can continue my journey to being a successful young black male and be another leader in my community. Thank you for all your support.
