Akin's Olfactory Neuroblastoma Cancer treatment

Greetings, my name is Akin Egbedina, residing in Lagos, Nigeria, and I am reaching out for your support during a challenging chapter in my life. I am blessed to be married to my beloved wife, Helen, and share my journey with two wonderful nephews, David and Asher.

In my professional life, I serve as a Researcher at a distinguished institute under the Federal Government of Nigeria, aspiring to become a Data Analyst. My dedication to self-improvement is driven by a desire to empower not only myself but also those around me.

As the saying goes, "Health is Wealth," and these words resonate more profoundly now than ever before.

Recently, I received a diagnosis of Olfactory Neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer. This condition has presented itself as a growth blocking my right nostril, a slight presence in the left nostril, and a growth on the upper palate of my mouth. This unexpected turn of events has disrupted my life, putting my aspirations and goals on hold.

To combat this challenge, I am scheduled for a rigorous treatment plan at the LUTH Cancer Centre, encompassing both chemotherapy and radiotherapy, along with two essential surgeries. The first surgery aims to remove any remaining growth post-treatment, while the second involves facial reconstructive surgery. The growth has impacted the bones supporting my front teeth, necessitating reconstruction.

Despite the gravity of the situation, I maintain a positive outlook. I firmly believe that this is not a death sentence, and I refuse to let it define my life or impede my pursuit of aspirations. With your support, I am confident in overcoming this adversity and living life to the fullest.

Attached is my bucket list, a testament to my determination to seize every moment and fulfill my dreams once I conquer this disease, thanks to your assistance:

1. Complete my Data Analyst Certification.

2. Establish a foundation to formalise my giving program, dedicated to supporting widows and capable but destitute young individuals.

3. Learn to swim.

4. Master bicycle riding.

5. Acquire the skill of rollerblading.

6. Embark on the extraordinary journey of visiting outer space at least once in my lifetime.
