Treasure Cay, Bahamas - Hurricane Disaster Relief

For over 35 years my family has been vacationing in Treasure Cay, Abaco, Bahamas. We ended up building a beautiful house on the beach that has been the source of tremendous joy and great memories for countless family members and friends. The house is now probably totally destroyed by Hurricane Dorian.

Early reports we have from Treasure Cay is that there is massive devastation and the people need tremendous amount of of help. Our heart goes to the people of the Bahamas. Our property there is the least of our concerns. We are helping the amazing people at Treasure Cay.

My family is channeling resources via Treasure Cay Community Foundation Inc (TCCF ), which is managed by local homeowners and friends, that will guarantee the funds are used in the best way possible, and any donation will help make an impact quickly.   

As per the letter below from TCCF, funds "will be drawn on immediately for humanitarian relief as soon as possible after storm passage. As in the past, Treasure Cay Emergency Services (TCESO) will be distributing relief supplies. Funds can only be given to an approved entity. The initial efforts will be humanitarian relief only, e.g. medical, food, water, shelter. TCCF funds may be used for rebuilding subject to applicable rules, but the immediate need and effort will be humanitarian."  Focus of use of the funds is likely to change as we get more clarity of the situation on the ground.

Although initially, I was collecting the funds directly via this campaign and transferring to TCCF personally, I am now working with GoFundMe to switch beneficiary directly to TCCF given how much money we have raised in such a short period of time..
