Please help this amazing family of 6!
Travis is a 34 year old amazing husband and father of 4 wonderful children. He was first diagnosed with renal failure and kidney disease possibly caused by strep throat in August 2003 at the age of only 23. It was at this time that they found out they were expecting their second child. Travis started on Peritoneal Dialysis soon after and was unable to work at this time due to having to do 4 exchanges per day every day. This put a financial strain on the family and there was an unpaid waiting period of 6 months to get diability/ssi. They mostly lived off credit cards and help from family. Travis’ wife started a home daycare to make enough money while Travis decided to use the time to start school as a Respiratory Therapist. Dialysis lasted about 2 ½ years when a call was received that there was a perfect match donor. The donor and their family will be forever in our hearts. Due to the bills and debts that were accrued Travis and his family were able to get a loan modification on the home they own and had to file bankruptcy. Travis and his family moved to Texas for more opportunity and to start a new and fresh outlook on life a couple of years ago. Well after 9 years Travis is in kidney failure again and just had a procedure on 1/16 to start PD again. As of right now he won’t be able to work for a while and his wife is babysitting and working on her real estate license. The biggest fear is that they will go into severe debt again and that Travis may not be able to work for a while before he hopefully receives another kidney transplant. This time the deductibles, co payments and other expenses plus Medicare premiums will be paid out of pocket as well. We would also like to help the donor with expenses due to loss of work or travel. Please help and share, we are so very grateful!
