Melinda's Endometrial Cancer Fight

In 2019, Melinda had several small to moderately serious health issues going on. By Thanksgiving, some pain that had been ongoing was discovered to be the forming of a fistula from damaged internal tissue after the radiation she had in 2015. She went through the hoops-MRI, saw a colon/rectal surgeon. Fast forward to January 2020. Melinda is scheduled for surgery to have a colostomy on January 14. This also includes having repair to a hernia that happened from her initial cancer surgery in 2013. With all of this, she will be off work for 4 weeks without pay while recovering. Doctors diagnosed Melinda with stage IVb Endometrial Cancer in October 2013. 

So far she has had 2 rounds of treatment - first chemotherapy immediately after a surgery to remove most of the cancer. She went through that and declared in remission July 2014. A few months later in October 2014, more tumors were found. The second round of treatment was internal radiation and 2 rounds of chemotherapy.  Chemo was stopped because it was too toxic.

In March 2015, yet more tumors were discovered. April 13th, those tumors were removed by surgery, but a CT scan at the end of the month showed more metastasis on the back outside wall of her bladder.  This time, she will have external radiation on her pelvis.  Due to the potentially severe side effects, the plan is for Melinda to take short term disability leave and be off work for 6-8 weeks. In order to do this, Melinda needs to make up 40% of her pay in order to ensure all monthly bills get paid. Due to the frequent trips to doctors and a hospital stay earlier this year, she has almost no paid time off, so we are looking to raise the money to help her get through this and not worry about her expenses.
