Workshop Habonim Dror Year in Israel!

Hello! My name is Sasha. I am a young Zionist Jew with a deep love and passion for Judaism, Israel, and the Jewish people. I have lived in the US my entire life. I have set foot in Israel not once. I grew up in Habonim Dror - a politically Zionist, culturally Jewish, and ideologically youthful movement. The same Jewish movement that was the driving backbone of kibbutzim throughout Israel- building Israel and empowering the Jewish youth of the world. The same Zionist movement that saw and fought in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Today, Habonim Dror operates in North America through community building and Jewish summer camps. It was here, at these summer camps, that I really began to understand my love for Judaism and Israel. Workshop, the name of the Israel gap year program run through Habonim Dror, is the oldest of its kind in Israel - coming up on its 73rd year. On Workshop, I wish to cultivate a real ownership of Israel. Participants live together for the year - as friends, as family, and as young Jews. The program starts the year on kibbutz Ravid, then traveling to Jerusalem and finishing the year in Haifa. Jews complete Workshop with a deeper connection and love for Israel. It is a program filled with fun- a joy for Israel and Judaism. It is a year spent exploring- what it means to be Jewish and how we connect to the land. And it is a year full of learning and growth- confronting the responsibilities we hold as Jews. As I learn what it means to become a Jewish adult, I want to have these experiences. In order to pursue this program, I require great financial assistance. My decision to go on Workshop was my own. It is a decision I stand by - a decision as strong and sure as my love for Judaism. That being said, my family is in no financial position to send me on Workshop right now. I am solely responsible for raising the necessary funds - so I am turning to the Jewish community for support and help! I reach out to you not only as a person - or as an individual - but as a Jew. I reach out to you not as a desperate Jew or a pushy Jew. I reach out to you as a hopeful Jew. I ask you as a living part of the Jewish people. Any help towards reaching this goal would be greatly appreciated. I am deeply committed to both Zionism and Judaism and to my love for the Jewish people. I am a young Zionist with a vision of what I want to see in the world, and a hope for what I want Israel to be. Thank you!
