Transwomen ICE Detainees Need Help!

TGRCNM is going out to the Cibola ICE Detention facility every two weeks to provide physical and emotional support to a group of transgender women who are detained there. In addition to visiting with them, we are providing direct financial support. Folks in facilities of incarceration cannot make phone calls, obtain a stamp or purchase foods other than what is provided for them without money being put on their books. These women do not have families of origin who are able to support them, or financial support from any other source. TGRCNM is not contracted to do this work, so all the funds spent are unbudgeted. We need YOUR help to support this most vulnerable group of transgender women, most of whom are simply seeking asylum in the United States because of the total lack of safety in their home countries. We will use your donations to directly support these folks, and there is no way to communicate how much they appreciate even this level of visitation and support. The stories we are hearing from our sisters are heartbreaking. Not all of us can go out to Grants, NM to visit with them, but we can all contribute to lifting them up, supporting them, and helping them get some of their very basic needs met.
