For anyone who has met the Quirke family, they know what kind hearted, generous and awesome people they are! And after their run of bad luck this year I could not help but wonder why do bad things happen to good people? I started this campaign in the hope we could turn this luck around and ensure more good, hey even great things happen for these good people!
So the story begins in early 2016, where Dominique, Steve and their four kids Tiani (11), Zaia (9), Astariah (7) and Obsidian (4) moved from Port Fairy to Mullumbimby to be closer to family. They were settled into their new home and life when Cyclone Debbie unexpectedly hit Mullumbimby in March this year.
The side of town next to the river (where the Quirke family live) was the worst effected because the river bank broke and the streets became rivers. Fortunately the family was safe but both Dominique and Steve's car engines were completely submerged. They didn't have insurance to cover the flood damage and despite all mechanical efforts the cars were both write-offs.
Fortunately the family had enough funds to get a little car that could get Steve to work (not enough seats for the whole family but they have made do). But Dominique used her car for her Henna business where she travelled to the markets adorning people with her hand made henna creations. To fit a tent, and market stall essentials into the little car they have is impossible and without savings to dip into the family needs a new vehicle that ensures Dominique can keep her business alive.
Dominique and Steve thought that they could get the funds together to cover this but then the four children got very ill with the whooping cough virus that has been prevalent in the area this winter. With the 4 children unwell at home for over a month now, and multiple visits to the hospital, Dominque has not even been able to work at all, and solely focused on getting her children back to health.
So the request is simple Dominique needs a safe dependable car that can fit her family of 6 and get her to the markets! As we all know the cost of cars varies but we are imagining somewhere around $4500 should get her a car that is reliable and big enough to fit the family!
