One of the fantastic companies that donates food to the Ukrainian animals we support is Tails. The Ukrainian animals love both wet and dry Tails. Tails run a subscription type system and they prepare bags of dry food specifically for dogs of certain names and then print the names on the food bags. When a subscription is cancelled suddenly, they end up with excess bags which they can't resell due to the tailor-made nature of their business.

Sometimes wet food is also deemed surplus to requirements, maybe the consistency is not quite the same as the food they usually sell. To be honest I'm not sure as to the reasons for the surplus wet food but what I do know is that both dogs and even cats in Ukraine absolutely love it.

Collecting aid from there is always a struggle though, because the warehouse has very small windows in which food can be collected and most of the lorries that we use to go out to Ukraine do not have cameras on the outside of them, which is required to enter London. This time round we have chosen to transport the aid to our storage where it will then join many other pallets of food on a lorry directly to Ukraine.

Despite the relatively short journey, the price of moving these pallets is £335. Lorries need to pay to enter the London zone and that's probably why. Food that comes directly from the factories is extremely convenient for the people unloading and distributing the supplies in Ukraine, so despite the relatively high cost, we believe it is worth every penny and we are currently short on dry dog food, so this is a worthy investment.
