Transition Survival fund

Hi everyone!

 

My names Shawna and im a trans-fem woman currently living in Glasgow.

 

Having created a go fund me around 10 months ago allowed me to cover the funds needed to start treatment and receive HRT. At last, I was able to begin my journey thanks to the beautiful people in my community. I’ve now been on HRT for 3 months, as I progress there is significantly more costs to cover, my bloods, further medication and routine check ups.

 

I registered with the NHS in 2019 and with the rising waitlist times for an initial appointment i have no idea when I will be seen by them.

 

Being able to finally start hormones after knowing it was something I needed for so long has been an absolutely wonderful thing and again, I am incredibly grateful for my community. The thought of losing my medication makes me extremely anxious and worried as I am not able to afford the costs from my own income at this present time.Trans healthcare is increasingly hard to access for working class young people and I find myself in a situation which many trans people I know have also been in due to the lack of care.

 

Furthermore, recent statistics showed 1 in 3 U.K. employers would not hire a transgender individual, and only 8% of employers seem to think we deserve the same rights to be hired as everyone else.

I have created this go fund me to support further treatment and the majority of this will go towards healthcare, meaning I can continue with HRT and revive laser hair treatment on my face, a small amount will be used to help out with my current living situation which goes hand in hand with being able to access HRT to allow me to survive.

 

I absolutely understand that right now it’s such a tough time for everyone out there but any donations or shares would mean the absolute world to me and allow me to continue living my truth.
