QTI☆BIPoC United presents:

International Transgender Day of Remembrance, Nov 20th

“On this day, Nov 20th, we are writing down the names of our trans siblings who have lost their lives due to cissexism. We will say their names and we will remember them.” - Marco Linguri.

We are teaming up with the Voguing community to deliver A Day of trans REMEMBRANCE and CELEBRATION.

With this event we want to give space to pray and heal together, but also to celebrate the magic, power and spirit of our BIPoC trans and non-binary identities. Refusing the rules of gender and daring to write our own is indeed a reason to celebrate life!

Our TDOR starts at 10.30 with the Room of Silence led by Liberal-Islamischer Bund e.V.
This room which will be open all day, will serve as a sacred space to hold our grief and inspire our healing as we remember those that we have lost.

At the same time, we will have a series of workshops throughout the day led by trans and non-binary BIPoC personalities from the community as a way to respond to the violences that continue to surround us and to chart a way forward:

10:30-13:00: “Self- and Community Care - is not a binary paradox”, a workshop by Shivā Amiri
13.00-15.00: “BIPoC Queer and trans representation in popular science fiction”, a workshop by Ixa
15:00-16:00: "Ways and Paths of a Syrian Trans Body", a presentation by Katya

The Room of Silence and the workshops will be held at AHA Berlin e.V., Monumentenstraße 13, 10829 Berlin.

The second part of the day will be dedicated to celebrating our beauty, our resilience, and our survival. And what better way to celebrate other than a Kiki Ball created by the Legendary Ria 007.

Ria connects trans identities inside and outside the Ballroom Community by highlighting the history and significance of this uniquely Black Trans art form, creating categories inspired by iconic community members of the scene. This is an opportunity for all of us, regardless of gender, to find our way into the Ballroom Community and experience the electrifying power that it offers. “The Trans*Identity Celebration Kiki Ball by Ria 007” will take place at Napoleon Komplex Berlin.

QTI☆BIPoC United is a collective of queer, trans, intersex and non-binary Black people and others racially stigmatized in Germany who represent a community of voices too often ignored, underserved and underrepresented in Berlin. We are committed to creating positive change by organizing workshops, educational programming, community events and public demonstrations. Our aim is to amplify the concerns of communities that are multiply marginalized by creating greater awareness about intersectional forms of discrimination endured by QTI*BIPoC. We understand accessibility and equity as crucial factors in creating sustainable structures to accommodate actual diversity. By providing safer spaces for our people to speak up, share their experiences and demonstrate their solidarity, we break down barriers to access and reclaim our historic space within the Pride movement. Our goal with this event is to create a whole day dedicated to our trans siblings and to honor the late victims of transphobic violence.
